PISCES SEASON 2025
Happy Pisces season! This year, the Sun is in the sign of the fishes from February 18th until March 20th - and there are a couple reasons why this is a particularly special Pisces season.
This sign is co-ruled by Jupiter (traditionally) and Neptune (in modern astrology). Neptune is currently in its home sign of Pisces since 2011, but will be crossing over into Aries at the end of March - making this the last Pisces season with Neptune for over 150 years to come!
Additionally, the moon’s north node is now in Pisces (across from the south node in the opposite sign of Virgo). The north node is a call for us to collectively embrace the beneficial qualities of this sign. So what are they?
Pisces is the zodiac’s mutable water sign. In astrology and tarot, the element of water represents feelings and healing. The mutable mode occurs at the end of a season; in this case, Pisces helps us to wrap up winter and transition into spring. It’s all about change and transformation, especially with Pisces, the last of the twelve zodiac signs. This finality is underscored by Neptune (as well as Saturn) finishing up their cycles around the zodiac in the spring of this year.
Appropriately for this water sign, Pisces is represented by two fishes, swimming away from each other and yet eternally bound together. But Pisces may be even more accurately symbolized by the ocean itself: boundless, unknowable, seemingly infinite. This is a sign that softens and dissolves boundaries. It’s connected to our limitless, transcendent consciousness. As the final sign of the zodiac, the Piscean process is one of becoming less identified with our egos and more connected to the cosmos.
As the twelfth zodiac sign, Pisces is connected to the twelfth house. Traditionally known by the bleak moniker “House of Troubles,” this part of the chart represents endings and losses. It’s associated with solitude, whether that’s going on a spiritual or religious retreat, holing up in a monastery or convent, or being institutionalized in an asylum or prison. This is the house of mental health and the subconscious, as well as the house of spirituality.
Intuitive, emotional, adaptive Pisces is the most spiritual zodiac sign. This is the ocean of collective emotion that connects us all together. In astrology, the fishes are associated with mysticism, the paranormal or supernatural, and experiences with other dimensions. Being so boundlessly connected, Pisces is also the sign of empathy, compassion, forgiveness and divine love - reminding us that we all have inherent value (regardless of what messages we receive from our toxic capitalist society).
Neptune, planet of dreams, is extra powerful while moving through its home sign of Pisces.
Pisces is also famously creative. This is the sign of dreams and visions, allowing us to imagine a new and improved world, or to receive artistic inspiration from realms beyond our own. But beautiful, blurry Pisces is also the sign of illusion and delusion, of struggling to separate reality from imagination.
People with high concentrations of Piscean energy are highly sensitive to energies and emotions, to dreams and other dimensions. This sensitivity is often accompanied by overwhelm, leading to the primary Piscean pitfall: escapism. This is the sign of addiction, of numbing out, of fleeing into fantasy worlds. Pisces has its head in the clouds more than any other sign, leading to the negative stereotypes of Pisceans as scattered, flaky, reliable, and always late. This sign is wise and transcendent, but simultaneously naive and easily taken advantage of due to its compassionate nature. Pisces illustrates the beneficial and detrimental meanings of the phrase “going with the flow.”
Pisces season is an excellent time for meditation and spiritual connection. It’s a heightened opportunity for imagination and creativity, for manifestation and magick. While Neptune in Pisces has our heads in the clouds, Saturn in Pisces helps us keep our feet firmly planted on the ground. This is our chance to imagine a better future and dream it into being.
